How The Evernote Smart Notebook Could Become Your Latest Health Tool

The latest item to land on my desk for testing is the Evernote Smart Notebook by moleskin. This notebook allows you to digitise anything your write or draw in it by simply taking a photo of it using the smartphone app. I've been using it as the ideal health journal, for writing down recipes, gym timetables, workout routines and fitness goals...
Studies show that writing down your fitness or weight loss goals and even logging your food and workouts can drastically improve your chances of success. Great news for anyone with a weight loss or fitness related New Years resolution! You could use the notebook as a weight loss journal and then digitise it for the purpose of a blog or even a memoir.

Despite being a techy, I often find creative thoughts flow better with pen and paper so I was very excited by the concept of being able to digitise the contents of a trusty notebook. Besides that, when I'm cooking up a new recipe and my hands are coated in flour, I really don't want to use my iPhone to log the recipe, so out comes my pen and this notebook.

It goes much further than simply taking a picture of a regular page with a smart phone camera. The Evernote app will instantly store your notes on the cloud and allow you to then search them using the automatic smart tags enabled by the included stickers. Imagine how much effort it would be to find a particular image you wanted when it's stored on your iPhone's camera roll.

The images taken by the app are also automatically brightened and straightened and the special paper in the notebook then allow any handwriting to be digitised and searched.

So how does it work? Well the YouTube video below can explain it in simple terms:

Here's what it says on the Amazon page:
"The Evernote Smart Notebook features unique ""Evernote Ruled"" page layouts with dotted lines designed to ensure a clean image when digitally capturing your notebook. The hard cover is decorated with images of Evernote icons and features an elastic closure and ribbon in ""Evernote"" green. When you capture a page with Evernote, the Smart Sticker icons become searchable, digital tags that make it easy to keep your ideas organized and to keep your digital and analog workspaces synced. Each Evernote Smart Notebook comes with 3 months of Evernote Premium."

The notebook will be released on the 17th January and will be available to buy on Amazon (see below)

My only criticism of the notebook, is that it's rather pricey, around £16 for the notebook, which includes the 3 month premium subscription to Evernote. Aside from that, I very much enjoy having all my notes available on any device and automatically filed for me so that I don't waste hours trying to find them again.

received a free notebook and Evernote subscription for the purpose of review but was not compensated in any other way. As always, opinions are my own!
